Who we Are

The Forgotten Neighbor is a community-based organization dedicated to supporting people of all ages who are in urgent need of life’s most basic requirements — safe shelter, adequate clothing, nutritious food, and accessible healthcare.

Founded in 2019 with the approval of Kaberamaido District authorities, 430 km east of Kampala, the organization was born from the vision of two passionate youth: Mr. Epenu Adam, a graduate in Art and Industrial Design from Kyambogo University, and Ms. Amwola Lillian, a Diploma holder in Catering.

The dream began as a response to the plight of elderly people who were being marginalized at the only government-aided hospital in the district. Many were denied quality and affordable treatment, while also facing loneliness, domestic violence, and neglect — worsened by youth migration to urban areas in search of greener pastures.

Moved by this reality, Adam and Lillian set out to create a safe and inclusive space not only for the elderly but also for orphans, vulnerable children, at-risk youth, and persons with disabilities. Together with like-minded community members, they founded The Forgotten Neighbor to change the narrative and provide an environment where dignity, care, and opportunity are available to all.
